Milkshake Cocktails

Spiked Samoa Milkshake from Serious Eats

If milkshakes and cocktails got together and had delicious babies, what you’d get would be spiked milkshakes (aka alcoholic milkshakes, boozy milkshakes, dessert in a glass, fatty fattening fat fats, or heaven). Bonus: It’s hot, and they are oh-so cold.

Sure, we’re all sophisticated sipping our Martinis in the parlor or heading to the speakeasy for a barrel-aged Negroni. But there’s no denying the power of the liquored-up milkshake. Behold!

Bourbon Street Milkshake ~ Vanilla ice cream, Nutella, malt, and of course, bourbon … why am I not drinking one of these right now? I’ve recently been to New Orleans, and I would have spent more time on Bourbon Street if they had this.

Aztec Mocha Spiked Milkshake ~ Tequila and cayenne combined with chocolate and coffee ice cream … that sounds just crazy-delicious enough to work. I love when chocolate and spice come together.

White Russian Milkshake ~ This one could be called the Dude (or His Dudeness, Duder, or El Duderino, if you’re not into the whole brevity thing). It’s like vodka, Kahlua, and ice cream and stuff, man. Gonna make one and watch “The Big Lebowski” on VHS tonight. Yep.

Spiked Samoa Milkshake ~ Alcoholic Girl Scout cookies? So wrong, yet so right. This boozy milkshake based on my favorite GS cookie uses dark rum, coconut, and dulce de leche ice cream for maximum awesomeness.

Key Lime Pie Milkshake ~ Since I don’t actually like Key Lime Pie, I was surprised by how drawn I was to it in alcoholic milkshake form. Gin, lime, vanilla ice cream, and some graham cracker crumbs … brilliant!

Booze Popsicles (aka Shotsicles or Poptails)

Blueberry Champagne Popsicles from BetsyLife

Things are heating up, weather-wise. So it’s time to get your cocktails in frozen form! Making boozy popsicles is simple. If you want to make up your own recipes, just keep in mind that no more than about a quarter of the mix should be alcohol or else it won’t freeze well enough. Now on to the cocktail popsicles!

Blueberry Champagne Popsicles ~ This is a good use for leftover Champagne (and, yes, there is such a thing as leftover Champagne).

Watermelon Sake Popsicles ~ Sake is light and refreshing, and so is watermelon. Therefore, this is the cure to a heat wave.

Bourbon Peaches and Cream Popsicles ~ Resistance is futile. It’s bourbon and peaches, for Pete’s sake!

Bloody Mary Ice Pops ~ It’s a brunch drink in popsicle form! Go with gin instead of vodka, if you like.

Aperol and Orange Popsicles ~ Such a sophisticated little popsicle. I love it.
