Summer Cocktails

Watermelon Sugar from Bon Appetit

Summer is cocktail season … I’ve decided. And while I couldn’t possibly narrow down my favorite summer drinks into just one post, here are a few that make good use of fabulous summer fruit. You’ll definitely be hearing more from me on this topic!

Peach and Blackberry Muddle ~ Put that summer fruit to work in your drink, along with a little honey, mint, and bourbon. Top off with seltzer if you want something a little lighter and bubbly.

Watermelon Sugar ~ Don’t let the name fool ya’. This cocktail has some spice and smoke, from jalapenos and mezcal, along with the sweet watermelon flavor.

Plum Smash ~ If you can get your hands on sweet, ripe plums, this one is a real treat. Thyme gives it a nice herbal flavor, while the bourbon enhances the sweet notesĀ  of the fruit.

Rainier Cherry Mojito ~ When you make this, be sure to buy a ton of cherries so you can eat those as you sip your drink.

Southside Fizz ~ This is a simple yet refreshing cocktail, with gin, mint, lemon, a hint of sugar, and some club soda. It’s fresh tasting without a whole lot of work, and it’s great if you want a summery drink but don’t have a lot of fresh fruit on hand.
